XO Life's brite™ platform: Digital therapy support for people with cystic fibrosis

Munich, Germany, July 24th, 2025 — Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a US pharmaceutical company focused on serious diseases such as cystic fibrosis, beta thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, and XO Life, a leading digital health scaleup, announce their cooperation to provide digital therapy support for people with cystic fibrosis. The focus is on a new area on the brite™ platform, available on the web or as an app, aimed at patients receiving treatment for cystic fibrosis (CF) or cystic fibrosis. After information from the doctor and free registration, patients can digitally accompany and document their therapy and obtain information using medically validated content. The platform enables structured recording of the application and provides personalized insights.
What is cystic fibrosis?
Cystic Fibrosis: One of the most common rare and genetic causes Diseases in Europe Cystic fibrosis (CF), also known as cystic fibrosis, is one of the most common rare, genetic and life-shortening diseases in Europe. The cause of cystic fibrosis is a defective or missing CFTR protein as a result of mutations in the CFTR gene.1 Some of these mutations result in too little or dysfunctional CFTR protein in the cell membrane. Due to the defective or missing CFTR protein, there is a lack of salt and water exchange between cells in various organs, including the lungs. As a result, secretions of vital glands or even the mucus in the lungs become thick and viscous and thus impair the function of various organs. In the airways, the thick mucus can cause chronic lung infections and progressive lung damage.

The cystic fibrosis treatment area within the brite™ platform provides medically approved content, including the application and features such as intake reminders and logging. The use is an additional service offering and is web-based or via an app for iOS and Android.
brite™ platform: digital interface for therapeutic transparency
Continuously monitoring and transparently documenting the course of treatment is particularly important for rare diseases. Experience from everyday care, so-called real world data, can help to gain a better understanding of the actual course of everyday life. The brite™ platform makes it possible to provide relevant information clearly and thus create more transparency for all parties involved,” says Dr. Friderike Bruchmann, Co-Founder & CEO of XO Life. The brite™ platform does not replace medical advice, but offers supplementary, generally understandable verified information and digital support for therapy support. Optionally, users can share their data with their treatment team to make it easier to monitor the course of treatment.
